The truth is (like so many things), it depends. Maybe it is better to aim for one of these middling areas? You're not going to hit big scores, but you are not going to get low scores either. Other regions have lots of medium scoring regions as close neighbours. If you manage to hit a high scoring segment, great, but if you miss, you are penalized heavily.
